Dumbrava Sibiului is a three-star hotel on Strada Pădurea Dumbrava, on the southern edge of Sibiu, where the last streets of the city give way to the forest. The ASTRA open-air museum begins one kilometre away, the protected centuries-old oak stands two hundred metres from the gate, and the old town is less than five kilometres off.
The accommodation covers very different situations. There are five types: a double room, a classic triple, a twin, a one-bedroom apartment with a separate bedroom and a kitchenette, and a 200 m² standard villa with fourteen bedrooms and fourteen bathrooms that sleeps up to thirty guests. Every unit has a private bathroom with a shower, a fridge, a TV and heating.
The front desk is open around the clock, the private parking on site is free and needs no booking, and the meeting and party rooms make room for work gatherings and family celebrations. The hotel has no internet access and serves no breakfast, but the airport is seven minutes away by car and there are a few restaurants nearby.
The five types of accommodation at Dumbrava Sibiului run from 17 to 200 m². All of them have a private bathroom with a shower, a fridge, a TV, heating and a carpeted floor. The double room, the classic triple and the twin have air conditioning, and the first two add a hairdryer and a dressing room.
The one-bedroom apartment separates the living area from the bedroom and has a kitchenette with a stovetop, a fridge and a dining area. The standard villa, the largest unit, has fourteen bedrooms and as many bathrooms with a shower. Upper floors are reached by stairs only.
The services at Dumbrava Sibiului are few and practical. The front desk is open around the clock and issues an invoice on request, and the private parking on site is free and needs no reservation. The meeting and party rooms, together with the 200 m² villa, turn the hotel into a base for seminars, christenings or family reunions.
Rooms come with heating, a fridge, a TV, a socket near the bed, a mosquito net and, in three of the five types, air conditioning. Safety is covered by fire extinguishers, a smoke alarm, a security alarm and CCTV outside the property.

Sibiu International Airport is 3.1 km away as the crow flies and seven minutes by car. Tursib buses 11, 112, 116, 117 and 118 leave from in front of the terminal, and the 60-minute ticket is bought on board with contactless payment. Arriving by train, you get off at Gara Mare, from where line 13 runs all the way to the Muzeul Astra stop, passing through Piaţa Unirii. By car, the road from the centre climbs along Calea Dumbrăvii towards Rășinari, and the private parking on site is free and needs no booking. Check-in runs from 15:00 to 22:00, though the front desk stays open around the clock.
Dumbrava Forest starts a few steps away. The ASTRA open-air museum takes up 96 hectares of it, with more than 300 traditional buildings, two lakes and over ten kilometres of paths: windmills from Dobrogea, water mills, a mine from the Apuseni Mountains and a wooden church brought from Bezded. In the same forest, the zoo keeps 208 animals of 52 species and the six-hundred-year-old oak declared a natural monument. The old town is best seen on foot: Piaţa Mare, Piaţa Mică with the Council Tower, the Bridge of Lies from 1859, the Brukenthal Palace and the Evangelical cathedral, with Romania's largest organ. Păltiniș, 35 kilometres away, has ski slopes in winter and trails in summer. The best months run from mid-May to mid-September; the international theatre festival fills the city in the second half of June, and the Christmas market in Piaţa Mare lasts from November to early January.
